Frankie Valli
Italian Heritage Award
Press Release
Originally a solo singer, Frankie joined the Variatones in 1954. They made their first records as the Four Lovers but achieved lasting success when they became the Four Seasons in 1962. Valli also had a solo recording career with a million-seller "Can't Take My Eyes Off You." His first solo number one in 1975 was "My Eyes Adored You." Frankie subsequently rejoined the Four Seasons and enjoyed further success with "Big Girls Don't Cry. In 1990, the Four Seasone were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. His legacy of music is a gift that we all take pleasure in, and leads us to award Frankie Valli with the San Gennaro Foundation Italian Heritage Award.
John Paul DeJoria
Humanitarian Award.
John Paul DeJoria has come a long way from the early days of growing up in the concrete jungles of East Los Angeles from overcoming homelessness, to building from scratch his own true life version of the American Dream. Through hard work and persistence, DeJoria, CEO and co-founder of John Paul Mitchell Systems, has built the company into a hair care empire with sales approaching $800 million per year. It is an unbelievable story that gives us hope that one day our wildest dreams may come true. By extending tremendous time and generosity to many humanitarian global causes, it gives us great honor to bestow John Paul DeJoria with the San Gennaro Humanitarian Award.
Danny DeVito & Mario Batali will be the special guests on Jimmy Kimmel Live (Thurs. 9/27)
